IQTEST-Melissa Lockwood to show her collection “Silver to Gold” at Vancouver Fashion Week
Sept. 22nd Vancouver BC – IQTEST-Melissa Lockwood’s will be showing her new collection “Silver to Gold” with a showroom on the 23rd and 24th. The featured brand is a collection comprised of garments made from fabrics other designers threw away. Melissa Lockwood salvages fabrics from NYC cutting factory waste and NY fashion district discard fabrics such as headers, samples and swatches.
Melissa Lockwood is the designer, founder and creative impetus behind IQTEST. At a time when mass produced clothing is the norm and left over cuttings usually end up in landfills, Lockwood is taking an environmental and socially aware stand, utilizing what is commonly seen as waste and turning it into stylish, of-the-moment fashion pieces and other utilitarian objects.
Brooklyn-based Lockwood’s collections have graced the catwalks of Paris Fashion Week, Williamsburg Fashion Week, NYC Eco Fest in Times Square and CSPS Runway and NYFW. An interdisciplinary artist, who obtained an MFA from the University of Iowa, Melissa is a self-taught fashion designer, with a focus on raising awareness about the pollution caused by the mass disposal of fabrics in manufacturing.
“My collections are intended to inspire other designers to view and use their waste fabrics as a resource rather than as garbage to send to the landfills.
“Silver to Gold” Speaks on many aspects of the waste that is incurred though the mass disposal of fashion industry fabrics. says Melissa Lockwood, Designer of IQTEST
